Nassau County Authorities Investigating Dog Remains Found at Roosevelt Preserve

Roosevelt, NY - March 29th, 2016 - First Squad detectives along with the Nassau County District Attorney Animal Crimes Investigators and the Town of Hempstead Animal Control Division are investigating the findings of a passerby who noticed what appeared to be an animal skull in an area of the Roosevelt Preserve (wooded area east of Prospect Street).

A subsequent investigation discovered the remnants which were identified to be that of canine in origin. Additional canine remains, which were buried, found in plastic bags and openly strewn about in various stages of decomposition, were collected for further processing.

Detectives request anyone with information regarding these incidents and their origins to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-Tips.
