Cops: Nassau Home Health Aide Accused of Scamming Elderly Woman Out of $31,000

East Rockaway, NY - March 29, 2019 - The Major Case Bureau reports a Grand Larceny arrest at 9:35 am on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 in East Rockaway.
 
According to Robbery Squad Detectives, defendant Nancy Cook, 45, of East Rockaway, while employed as a home health aide, did write out checks payable to herself, from her employer’s checking account, without the authority to do so. The defendant forged signatures on 110 checks totaling approximately $31,000.00 US currency from September 2018 to January 2019 and cashed them. 
 
Defendant Cook was taken into custody by detectives without incident on March 27, 2019 and is charged with Grand Larceny 3nd Degree and Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree. She was arraigned at First District Court March 27, 2019.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
