New Jersey Woman Charged in Roosevelt Field Mall Robbery; Police Seeking Male Accomplice
Garden City, NY - March 28, 2018 - The Third Squad reports the details of a Robbery that occurred at 2:05pm on Sunday, March 25, 2018 in Garden City.
According to Detectives, two subjects, a male and female, entered the Sephora store located inside the Roosevelt Field Mall located at 630 Old County Road; they began to select merchandise from the display racks and conceal the items inside a tan handbag the female subject was carrying. A Loss Prevention Agent, 26, observed both subjects exit the store without paying for the merchandise. When he identified himself and attempted to retrieve the merchandise, the female subject punched the Agent in the face twice and began to scratch him about the face and neck.
The female subject then ran into the parking lot toward a black colored, four door Nissan with a partial NYS registration HSK driven by the male subject. The Agent was able to block the female subject from entering the vehicle, the male subject drove away and Police Officers arrived on scene. It was determined that both subjects were responsible for a prior larceny at the same Sephora on March 10, 2018.
Arrested was Gianna Sanchez, 19, of Clifton, NJ. She is charged with Robbery 2nd Degree, two counts of Burglary, two counts of Grand Larceny and two counts of Criminal Possession of an Anti-Security Item. She was arraigned in First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
The male subject (not yet arrested) is described as a male Hispanic, 5’8”, 180 lbs., approximately 24-28 years old, wearing a black jump suit with a white stripe.
