Suffolk County libraries are pooling their resources to create personal protective equipment for medical workers on the front lines of the coronavirus (COVIS-19) epidemic. Activating Suffolk County’s system of libraries, they hope to have more than 60 printers working to create individual pieces of face shields for Stony Brook health care workers.

According to a message that was sent by Port Jefferson Free Library to its patrons, libraries are sending their 3D printers to Suffolk Cooperative Library System's 3D Print Farm.

 

“This project will have 60+ printers up and running by next week when all the printers have been delivered,” the message read.

On Facebook, Sachem Public Library posted about the project saying they will be making face shields for healthcare workers.

 

“Printers create the framework, then other parts are then added,” the library said in its post.
