Police: Two Busted in Connection with Burglaries of Merrick, Oceanside Businesses

Oceanside, NY - March 29, 2019 - Seventh Squad detectives report the Arrest of two men for Burglary that occurred in Oceanside.
 
According to detectives, while on routine patrol units spotted two suspicious males in the rear of the AT&T store located at 186 Merrick Rd., Merrick. The two men, defendants Robert Stoval, 31, of Brooklyn, and Juan Grigg, 39, of Uniondale, fled on foot and entered a dark sedan. The vehicle fled northbound on Babylon Turnpike. Officers activated their lights and attempted to stop the vehicle. Robert Stoval refused to stop and struck a stop sign in the vicinity of Sunrise Highway. The vehicle continued on Sunrise Highway before finally crashing into a parked car at Mavis Auto Body Shop. Both subjects then fled on foot.
 
Defendant Stoval was placed into custody by officers a short time later.
 
The Nassau County Police K9 Unit assisted officers and apprehended defendant Juan Grigg outside of Saint Barnabas Church located at 2320 Bedford Ave. in Bellmore. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation.
 
Investigation revealed the above defendants were responsible for a Burglary that occurred at the Verizon store located at 3337 Long Beach Rd., Oceanside. According to detectives, the subjects broke into the front door and removed merchandise.
 
Defendant Stoval is charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer 3rd Degree and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
 
Defendant Grigg is charged with Burglary 3rd Degree and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree.
 
They were arraigned at First District Court, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
