Jeffrey Rice of Huntington Station, 45, allegedly entered a Cold Spring Harbor house late on Thanksgiving night and attacked an 85 year-old woman, according to Suffolk DA Thomas Spota.

Cold Spring Harbor, NY - March 27, 2017 - A man who entered a Cold Spring Harbor house late on Thanksgiving night will be arraigned today (3/27) on an indictment in Riverhead criminal court, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said.
 
Jeffrey Rice allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife after entering the house through an unlocked door and walked upstairs where he confronted a young girl and her 85 year old aunt. 
 
Rice punched the elderly woman numerous times with a closed fist.  She suffered cuts and bruises.
 
Rice was then confronted by the couple who own the house and with the assistance of two other family members, he was disarmed and subdued.
 
State Supreme Court Justice Mark Cohen (fourth floor) will unseal the indictment of Rice, 45, of Huntington Station.  The court calendar will begin at 9:30 am.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
