Commack, NY - March 27, 2015 - Entries are now being accepted for the Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center’s Annual Photo Contest.  Each year, the contest offers amateur photographers an opportunity to enter photographs in ten categories: Landscapes, Travel, People, Pets, Children, Wildlife, Nature, Still Life, Computer Manipulated and Student.  A maximum of 7 entries per photographer at $5 each will be accepted.

Photographs will be judged by a panel of professional judges at the close of the contest, and winners will be chosen based on clarity, composition, subject matter and suitability for display at the Center.  Winning photographers will be awarded various cash prizes at a reception held in June, and winning photos will be enlarged and permanently displayed at the Gurwin Center for the enjoyment of residents and visitors to the facility.  The deadline for submissions is April 15.

The Center’s renowned contest is made possible by the Tiffen Company (Hauppauge), long-time sponsors of the contest in memory of Helen and Nat Tiffen, the company’s founder and a former Gurwin resident.  The Tiffen Company is a leading manufacturer of glass filters and other fine products for digital, still, video, motion pictures and television.

Applications for the Gurwin Photo Contest are available from the Gurwin Center’s Public Relations office, or at www.gurwin.org.  For more information or an application, visit www.gurwin.org, or call 631-715-2568.
