Want to take a trip from Long Island to Nashville aka Music City? As of June 6, Southwest Airlines will begin flying a new nonstop service per day to Nashville, TN from MacArthur Airport. Travelers can start booking trips to Nashville from ISP today.

“We welcome this exciting new addition to Southwest’s nonstop cities from MacArthur Airport, and know Long Island will love this opportunity,” said the airport’s Aviation Commissioner Shelley LaRose-Arken.

Nashville is known worldwide for its music scene, and is also recognized for its lively food and art culture. The Ascend Amphitheater features live outdoor concerts from different genres including several events this summer. The Grand Ole Opry and the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum are large attractions. The African American Music Museum is a new popular site, as well. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy Centennial Park and the Parthenon, and the Cheekwood Botanical Garden.

Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter said that expanding service out of MacArthur Airport has been a priority of her administration.

“Despite challenges with COVID, this is very welcome news, and certainly supports that we never give up, and continue to focus all our efforts on serving the needs of our residents,” Carpenter said.
