Meet This Week's Adorable Adoptable: Rocky!

Written by Allison Matos  |  25. March 2016

LI's Adorable Adoptables is a weekly column by Allison Matos, a lifelong Long Island resident who has been advocating animal adoption since 2012. Allison's weekly posts highlight local animals in need of adoption, and cover general animal welfare topics as well.

That gorgeous smile belongs to this week's Adorable Adoptable, Rocky! Rocky is a very handsome 6-year-old boy who arrived at the Town of Hempstead Aninal Shelter when his owner surrendered him. His owner had him for his whole life–he lived with another dog, and he lived with infants. Rocky’s owner said he is a great boy, he’s house trained and crate trained.

Unfortunately, Rocky was very protective of his family, and there was an incident with a stranger coming into his home that landed him at the shelter. So, although he lived with kids in his former home, at this time, it is recommended that Rocky go to a forever home with kids 17 and up. Rocky is playful with toys, displayed no issues with people near his food, and sadly is very anxious and upset to be at the shelter. Rocky would thrive as a solo dog as well.

Rocky is really a great dog and just needs an owner who is capable of getting him more comfortable with strangers. If you think you got what it takes (or know someone who could provide Rocky with the love and attention that he needs) please call for more information: 516-785-5220 or come visit him at: 3320 Beltagh Avenue, Wantagh NY 11793.

Thanks for reading and please remember to always adopt-never shop... pass it on!
