Written by Lon Cohen  |  27. March 2021

On Sunday, March 21, more than 100 volunteers came out to clean up the waterfront in Mastic Beach in an area stretching from Cranberry Pier to Sheepen Creek, according to a Facebook post by Brookhaven Town Councilman Dan Panico who represents the area for the 6th district.

“Thank you for taking pride in the community, volunteering and a special thank you to everyone involved in the Mastic Beach Conservancy for helping out it all together today,” Panico wrote.

The Mastic Beach Conservancy Instagram page promoted the event and touted the success of the event. They filled 123 trash bags and took off the beach 34 tires, 20 piles of wood, fountains, sit up exercise bars, bed frames, and metal scaffolding among other items of junk.

They thanked everyone for coming out to help and Home Depot for donating bags, pickers and gloves for the event, and Ace Coffee Company for donating hot coffee.

To organize a clean up in the area Panico said to call his office at (631) 451-6502.

“We will provide the bags, gloves and the pick up after you are done,” he added.
