Village of Hempstead Promotes Literacy on Read Across America Day

Hempstead, NY - March 22, 2017 - As part of the Village’s mission to promote literacy and education, Village of Hempstead Mayor Wayne J. Hall Sr. and Deputy Mayor Luis Figueroa recently celebrated Read Across America Day with Jackson Annex Elementary School. Mayor Hall and Deputy Mayor Figueroa shared their love of reading, and read aloud some of their favorite age-appropriate books to the elementary school students.
 
The Village of Hempstead officials also answered students’ questions and recommended additional reading. ReadAcross America Day is a nationally celebrated annual literacy program celebrated on Dr. Seuss’s birthday.
