NCPD Announces Arrest in Connection with 2016 West Hempstead Kidnapping, Sexual Assault
West Hempstead, NY - March 21, 2017 - Nassau County Police Department Detectives report the arrest of Levar Burton, 24, of Amityville on Monday, March 20, 2017 in connection with a Sex Offence that occurred on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 4:00 am in West Hempstead.
According to detectives, the female victim, 21, was approached on Terminal Road by Burton, armed with a handgun, driven to an unknown location and sexually assaulted. The suspect fled scene on foot in an unknown direction. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Burton is charged with Kidnapping 2nd Degree, Rape 1st Degree and Sexual Abuse 1st Degree. He will be arraigned on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at First District Court in Hempstead.
