March 20, 2016 - As Long Island braces for one more taste of winter on the first day of spring, there is still some uncertainty as to just how much snow will accumulate on the Island. As of Sunday morning, the National Weather Service was predicting 2-6” of snowfall for Nassau and western Suffolk County, and up to 4-8” for eastern Suffolk.

The storm could begin later in the afternoon to early evening on Sunday and continue into Monday morning. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for most of LI, and a Winter Storm Watch will be in effect over eastern Suffolk from 6 PM tonight until 10 AM Monday. Visibility could be reduced to as little as a quarter mile at times.

Temperatures are expected to reach the mid-40s on Monday, which means that much of whatever snow does fall will melt quickly; the storm could even change to rain if it carries over later in the morning tomorrow. However, the timing of the snow will likely make for a messy morning commute, and could cause delays.
