Nassau Police Conducting Search for Suspect Wanted for Shooting Up Elmont Smoke Shop, Fleeing Scene

The Major Case Bureau is investigating a shooting incident that occurred in Elmont on Monday, March 18, 2024 at 2:22 pm.
 
According to detectives, Fifth Precinct police responded to the vicinity of Hempstead Turnpike and Elmont Road for a Shot Spotter notification indicating shots being fired. Upon arrival, police observed several shots had been fired into the storefront of N2 Smoke and Cigar Shop located at 490 Hempstead Turnpike. The shots did cause damage to the front glass window. 
 
Further investigation revealed that an unknown male subject wearing dark clothing was responsible for the shooting. The male subject then fled on foot east on Hempstead Turnpike. 
 
There were no injuries reported. The investigation is ongoing.
 
Detectives request that if anyone has information regarding the above crime to contact the Nassau County Police Crime Stoppers at 1 – 800 – 244 – TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
