Waterzooi: 850 Franklin Ave, Garden City

This noted Belgian bistro in Garden City is known for its savory mussel pots, but the truffle lobster mac and cheese is a must try. Served as an appetizer, but large enough to share between 2 people. Diners say the $22 mac and cheese goodness is worth the splurge. The lobster mac is filled with generous chunks of sweet fresh lobster meat mixed into hot gooey cheese, overflowing in its serving bowl. Pro tip: Its so good, your going to want a second order.

Insignia: 610 Smithtown Bypass, Smithtown

Beautiful inside and out, Insignia in Smithtown (one of the many noted Anthony Scotto restaurants) is the perfect modern spot for fresh sushi, seafood and top notch steaks. Whether your craving sushi or steak, you’ll want to make sure to add a side of their black truffle mac and cheese topped with fresh lobster. Cheesy, sweet with just the right amount of truffle, you’ll love this dish.

Salt & Barrel: 279 Main St, Bayshore

Salt & Barrel, a popular oyster bar spot is serving up everything from fresh oysters to their new CBD cocktail menu. The restaurant offers a seafood-focused menu with tasty items like crispy rock shrimp and creamy clam chowder. But one of their menu stars? Their rich and creamy lobster mac and cheese served as an entree side. The key? Crispy bacon is part of their signature recipe.

Bistro 25: 45 Foster Ave, Sayville

Smoked gouda, cheddar, parmigiana and truffle oil make Bistro 25’s mac and cheese a hit out of the park. Guests can add on bacon, pork belly or lobster (for an up charge). Their lobster mac and cheese is packed with fresh Maine lobster meat mixed into noodles and endless cheese. And you’re in luck, all of their macs are served as entrees.

La Motta’s Dockside: 10 Matinecock Ave, Port Washington

La Motta’s, a seasonal dockside restaurant located at the family owned and run Manhasset Bay Marina has been around for 25 years. The restaurant serves up everything from raw bar selections to handhelds like their lobster roll, fish tacos and even fresh fish caught daily. Their tiki bar vibe is super relaxed and casual, but their lobster mac and cheese is seriously delicious. Creamy noodles are topped with fresh Maine lobster mixed into tons of cheesy goodness. Keep your eys peeled, La Motta reopens this spring!

Ocean Restaurant: 333 Bayville Ave, Bayville

What's better than waterfront dining on Long Island? The Ocean Restaurant in Bayville is made of floating structures with panoramic views of the Long Island Sound. Focusing their menu on sustainable and seasonal ingredients, you’ll find something for everyone including fresh seafood to steaks and salads. But, be sure not to pass up on their lobster mac and cheese. Served as a side in all it’s cheesy glory, this is a must try when dinging at Ocean.
