Westbury Man Arrested for Assault as a Hate Crime, According to Authorities

Ronkonkoma, NY - March 15, 2018 - Suffolk County Police have arrested a man after he assaulted a man and shouted racial slurs in Ronkonkoma.
 
Sean Oree approached a Hispanic man, who was sitting on a bench at the Ronkonkoma Long Island Railroad Station, yelled racial slurs and punched and kicked the victim on March 14, 2018 at 8:45 p.m. The victim was transported by members of the Ronkonkoma Fire Department to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
 
Fourth Precinct officers located Oree at the scene. Hate Crimes Section detectives charged Oree, 52, of Westbury with Assault 3rd Degree as a Hate Crime. He was scheduled for arraignment today at First District Court in Central Islip.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
