Aloe Blacc, Maya Jupiter and Tony-Award Winning Actor, Bill Irwin, on Tom Needham’s the Sounds of Film

International Superstar Aloe Blacc, wife Maya Jupiter and legendary actor, Bill Irwin, will be Tom Needham’s special guests this Thursday at 6 P.M. on WUSB’s the Sounds of Film.

Stony Brook, NY - March 15, 2017 - Best-selling artist, Aloe Blacc, wife Maya Jupiter and Tony-Award-winning actor Bill Irwin will Tom Needham’s guests this Thursday on the Sounds of Film.

Actor, record producer, businessman and musician, Aloe Blacc, is one of the world’s most popular musical artists. Some of his biggest hits include “I Need a Dollar,” “The Man,””Candyman,” and Avicil’s “Wake Me Up,” which topped the charts in 22 countries. His song “I Need a Dollar” was the theme song to HBO’s How To Make It in America.  He is married to Maya Jupiter, a Turkish-Mexican Australian rapper, a popular radio host, and former member of the hip hop group Foreign Heights with MC Trey. 
 
Aloe and his wife, Maya, perform the closing song, “Smile” in the award-winning documentary, Uncondemned, which will be playing at the Port Jefferson Documentary Series on March 20th at 7 P.M. at Theater Three.  The film tells the story of young international lawyers who fight to have rape considered a war crime, and the brave women from Rwanda who decide to testify. The screening will feature a Q and A with director Michele Mitchell.

Also on the program, is award-winning actor, clown, and comedian Bill Irwin, who will be performing at 3 P.M. at the Town Hall in Manhattan on Saturday, March 18th as part of the Shoots and Scores: Films in Concert Series.  He will be joined by Long Island Music Hall of Fame inductee, Vince Giordano, who will be performing a live score accompanying a screening of Buster Keaton’s The Cameraman.  Bill Irwin is known for a variety of film roles in Popeye, Blue Heaven and Interstellar.  He is also known for his stage work in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolf? Perhaps, though, he is most loved for his long-time role of Mr. Noodle on Sesame Street’s Elmo’s World.
