Islandia, NY - March 14, 2014 - Suffolk County Police have arrested a man for using stolen credit card information that was obtained in the recent Target data breach to make several purchases at a store in Islandia.

Suffolk County Police Identity Theft Section detectives were contacted in January by security from Rite Aid Pharmacy, located at 1968 Veterans Memorial Highway, regarding a possible credit card scam at the store. Following an investigation, detectives determined that the same person entered the store several times between January 6 and January 20 and used information from 45 stolen credit cards to purchase more than $35,000 worth of gift cards. It was determined that all 45 numbers were sold from the Target Store compromise.

Identity Theft Section detectives conducted surveillance at the pharmacy on March 13 and observed a man making gift card purchases at 7:26 p.m. The man, Terron Stowe, was arrested at the scene. Stowe was found in possession of 27 cloned credit cards containing other people’s credit card information.

Stowe, 27, of 119-19 Farmers Blvd., Saint Albans, Queens, was charged with one count of Petit Larceny, two counts of Grand Larceny 3rd Degree and one count of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument. Stowe was scheduled to be arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip.
