Bay Shore, NY - March 13, 2014 - On March 20, Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, Inc. (ADRC) will be joining West Marine for the store’s Cruising for a Cause Charity Night at its new flagship store, located at 147 Sunrise Highway in West Islip. The event will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

West Marine’s Cruising for a Cause is an annual evening event that highlights local boating and marine environmental non-profit organizations, and offers the opportunity for them to raise funds for their programs. This year, West Marine decided to help ADRC raise money for its upcoming Regatta and Awards Dinner, which will take place on June 14 at the Sagamore Yacht Club in Oyster Bay.

The night will offer live music, beverages and light bites, a live auction featuring a Blue Island Oyster Farm visit, and Jimmy Styx stand up paddle boards. In addition, Nick Mavar, of Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch and Captain Ralph Wilkins from National Geographic’s Wicked Tuna will be in attendance to raise additional awareness and funds.

Tickets are $10 each and are available only at the door. For every ticket sold, West Marine will donate an additional $2.00 to ADRC. ADRC will also have an exhibitor’s table for guests who wish to learn about the organization and the latest research into finding a cure for Alzheimer’s Disease.

The Regatta and Awards Dinner is an annual event, in which yachting teams, paddlers and kayakers, participate to race and raise money for the organization. Awards are then presented to the winners of the race and the top fundraisers.

“We cannot thank West Marine enough for inviting us to their Grand Opening Celebration to raise money for our programs and services,” says Mary Ann-Malack-Ragona, Executive Director/CEO, Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, Inc. “This is a great way for local companies and charities to come together in efforts to help one another.”
