Coastal Flood Statement issued December 4 at 4:05PM EST until December 5 at 5:00PM EST by NWS Upton NY * WHAT...Wave action from strong northerly winds could cause minor coastal flooding and minor beach erosion around the times of high tide. * WHERE...The north shore of Long Island. * WHEN...From late Saturday morning through Saturday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Some water on low lying roads and property. Breaking waves of 3 to 5 feet could result in minor beach erosion, especially farther east.

Coronavirus School Closings on Long Island

The coronavirus has made its way into Long Island schools. Shoreham Wading River the first to close Monday morning, has now resumed classes, but others are being told to stay home.
