Long Island, NY - March 10, 2017 - NYZ Apocalypse is known for their intense zombie survival experience. It is a rare gem of Long Island and a destination for many consumers in the tri state area. This June, NYZ is holding the first ever, full scale, escape house at their venue and they are teaming up with local horror artists to do it.
Since July 2016, NYZ and Fringe Immersive have been creating new and unique forms of immersive and interactive entertainment for the masses and they plan on continuing to add to their library of survival action, horror and sci fi experiences.
Escape rooms are a trending business model but this event will take that format to the next level. DYSTOPIA was previously banned in New York due to concerns of how extreme and violent the event was perceived to be, but it was a hit in New Jersey and brought in avid haunted house and escape room lovers from all over the country and even as far as Australia to test their might against the experience.
DYSTOPIA REDUX is the fine tuned version of its first incarnation that was presented in 2016 and we’re told it could last up to an hour or more for guests to make it through the show. This is not like your usual escape room experience where you solve puzzles to escape just a room; this is theatrical, immersive, interactive action packed and scary.
Guests will go through an apocalyptic simulation set in the future where TV game shows are government sanctioned and a way to reduce the population. The experience is based off the Richard Bachman story “The Running Man” and horror film favorites like Saw, Hostel and The Belko Experiment. Guests will enter a world run overrun by corporatism, greed and fear and they must eliminate their group members until only one is left.
“We wanted to take the concept of an escape room and make it fill a whole attraction but we didn’t want you to just solve puzzles and work together to escape. We want you do make hard decisions, compete, sacrifice friends and strangers alike and save yourself. That’s real horror, that’s reality because when the chips are down, all that bleeding heart stuff dies. Saving yourself is the main goal here,” said Will Puntarich, Marketing Director of NYZ Apocalypse and creator of DYSTOPIA.
We’re told guests will simulate torture techniques, place themselves in embarrassing situations and have to overcome social interactions to move from room to room. Sounds legitimately scary, will we see you there?
DYSTOPIA opens for one night only on June 16th 2017 and advanced discount tickets are on sale now at www.nyzapocalypse.com
