Babylon Man Arrested After Stealing Donation Jar

Lindenhurst, NY - March 10th, 2014 - Suffolk Police today arrested a man that stole a donation jar from a Lindenhurst beverage store yesterday.

A man entered Flag Beverage, located at 75 West Hoffman Ave., Lindenhurst, on March 8 and stole a donation jar containing approximately $200 designated for Columbia Presbyterian Hospital’s heart center.  Earlier today, police received information that the suspect was at Panera Bread located at 1025 Montauk Highway, West Babylon.  When First Precinct Officer Nicholas Schieda arrived, he recognized the suspect and arrested Thomas Campion, 49, of 39 Tappan Ave., Babylon.

Campion was charged with Petit Larceny and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on May 2.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
