"Air Quality Alert" ...Air quality alert in effect from 11 am to 11 PM EDT Thursday... The New York state department of environmental conservation has issued an air quality health advisory for the following counties... Nassau and Suffolk In effect from 11 am to 11 PM EDT Thursday. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an air quality index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone . The air quality index, or aqi, was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the aqi value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated, the New York state department of health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very Young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. NCPD reports the arrest of Stephanie Kalan of Old Bethpage, 26, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Massapequa Park, NY - March 9, 2018 - The Criminal Intelligence Rapid Response Team (CIRRT) reports the arrest of an Old Bethpage woman for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance which occurred on Wednesday, March 07, 2018 at 10:10 p.m. in Massapequa Park.
 
According to Officers, while on routine patrol, a 2015 Mitsubishi was parked in the parking lot at 131 Front Street. The Officers observed a female sleeping in the driver’s seat and a black vape pen containing a brown syrup like substance believed to be Tetrahydrocannabinols (THC) on the passenger seat. 
 
During the investigation, officers discovered a straw with a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine and several containers with pills believed to be Amphetamine and Dextroamphetamine. Defendant, Stephanie Kalan, 26, was placed under arrest without incident. 
 
Defendant Kalan is charged with 5 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree. The defendant was released on a Nassau County Appearance Ticket returnable on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 to First District Court, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
