Two Month-Old Infant Mauled by Pit Bulls in Elmont, According to Authorities
Elmont, NY - March 9, 2018 - The Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a Serious Aided Case that occurred on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 11:55 am in Elmont.
According to detectives, a female victim, 37, was carrying her male infant, 2.5 months, in an infant seat. The mother knocked on the door of the residence located on 117th Avenue. A female occupant, 57, opened the door and two (2) Pit bull mixes ran out of residence. One of the dogs attacked the mother and bit her leg. The same dog bit the infant on the face and head, causing deep laceration to the mouth and left cheek, as well as puncture wounds.
During the attack, a male, 41, was working in the vicinity and came to the aide of the victims. He pulled the dog away for the victims and placed the mother and infant in a vehicle for safety.
Both the mother and infant were transported by a Nassau County Police Ambulance to an area hospital for treatment.
The investigation is ongoing.
