Weekend Weather Update: Unseasonably High Temps, Slight Showers Bring Spring to LI a Week Early

Written by Cait Russell  |  10. March 2016

Wondering what the weather is going to look like this weekend? LongIsland.com's Weekend Weather Update has the need-to-know forecast details for Long Island - unlike some other weather updates, LI is our ONLY focus!

Friday
The weekend kicks off with a bright, sunny Friday with temps reaching into the low 60°s, with a slight chance of sun showers throughout the day. Unlike last Friday, there's no snow or flurries in the forecast, thankfully - it looks like we'll be starting the weekend off on the right foot!

Saturday
Although the first day of Spring isn't until next weekend, Saturday is going to be a warm, Spring-like day, with temps reaching the high 50°s to low 60°s across the Island with plenty of sunshine! If you're planning on heading to a park, enjoying a parade, or checking out some other local outdoor fun, then Saturday is your best bet this weekend! Lows will only dip into the mid-40°s overnight.

Sunday
Similar to Saturday's forecast, Sunday will have highs in the high 50°s to low 60°s, however, Sunday will be partly overcast, with a 30% chance of showers in the evening, although at this time, it is expected that most rainfall will be after midnight on Sunday. That said, it looks like this upcoming week is going to be somewhat rainy, so although it might not be bright and sunny out on Sunday, it's still going to be warm, so why not make the most of this Spring-like day!

This Coming Week
Next week will kick off with a 60% chance of rain on Monday, with a high near 50°, and there is a chance of rain all throughout the first half of the week, ranging from 30-50%. Things should start to clear up by Thursday, just in time for Saint Patrick's Day, so the week won't be completely rained out!
