Nassau Women Cleared as Potential Ebola Risk
Franklin Square, NY - March 8, 2015 - The Public Information Office reports the details of an aided case that occurred on Friday, March 06, 2015 at 5:45 p.m. in Franklin Square.
According to police, a call from the Franklin Square Immediate Care Center, located at 30 Franklin Avenue was placed to 911 for an ambulance to transport a 29-year-old female patient exhibiting flu-like symptoms. During the physicians examination of the patient, it had been determined that she had recently traveled from Africa. The physician and Nassau County Medical Control then initiated protocol measures for a possible Ebola case.
During the medical investigation conducted by medical professionals at the scene, as well as the Nassau County Department of Health and the New York State Department of Health it was determined the victim did not travel in any areas where Ebola cases were diagnosed. The patient was deemed a non-Ebola risk case and was transported to an area hospital for normal medical treatment of flu-like symptoms.
The Nassau County Police Department followed department protocol in place to handle this type of medical emergency.
