St. James, NY - March 7, 2017 - The Knox School is pleased to announce that three riders from the Middle School Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) team successfully qualified for Zones, taking place in Buffalo, New York on March 23, 24 and 26, 2017. Director of Equestrian, Deborah Moore and assistant Katelyn Trzcinski, happily reported that nationally-ranked Jessica Guginsky and riders Emily Lonegro and Grace Hayden dominated the competition at IEA Regionals this past weekend at Island Hills Stables. These three young ladies were the driving forces which allowed the Middle School team to win 2nd place out of 13 teams. Jessica Guginsky also earned the title of High Point Middle School Rider and was the only student to qualify as an individual rider for the Zones competition.

Additional accomplishments at the Regional competition included Nicole Cahill, who won 8th out of 23 riders in the open-class division, and seven other student riders who rode to the best of their abilities in the record-breaking cold temperatures.

Additional riders for The Knox School’s IEA team include Mackenzie Jorgensen, Victoria Voelker, Julia Russo, Andrea Infranco, Riley Hovsepian and Annabel Shewan, who qualified for the Regional competition.

“It is always exciting to see everyone do their best. Everyone was such a good sport in the freezing temperatures and in their support of each other. These are all good qualities we try to encourage here at Knox,” said Deborah Moore, Director of Equestrian at The Knox School.
