Kitten Season to Strike in Spring!
Calverton, NY - March 7, 2014 - Kent Animal Shelter of Calverton is offering $20 spay/neuters for 60 feral cats, a discounted rate made possible through a grant from Pet Peeves, Inc. Pet Peeves is a Woodbury non-profit umbrella organization that raises money and awareness for Long Island animal shelters and rescue groups.
“Our organization is grateful to Pet Peeves for helping us to get out in front of kitten season,” said Pam Green, Executive Director of Kent Animal Shelter. Each spring, cats that haven’t been sterilized produce so many kittens that finding homes for all of them is impossible.
Spay/neuter is a surgical birth control procedure. It reduces pet homelessness, overpopulation, starvation, property destruction, cruelty and euthanasia associated with unwanted kittens in the community.
Through private donations and grants, Kent Animal Shelter has been able to provide low cost spaying and neutering at its clinic.
