Baldwin Woman and Father Arrested After Dumping Popcorn on 2 Year-Old During Movie, Cops Say

Levittown, NY - March 5, 2018 - Second Squad detectives report the arrest of a two (2) Baldwin people for Endangering the Welfare of a Child that occurred on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 6:42 pm in Levittown.
 
According to detectives, the victim, 2, asked her mother, 28, for popcorn during a movie. An unknown female sitting next to the juvenile verbally attempted to quiet the child. The victim’s mother asked the unknown female not to talk to her daughter. The subject started to yell, curse at the victim and her mother, and placed her hand over the juvenile’s mouth. At this time, the subject dumped a container of popcorn on the juvenile’s head and struck her in the head with the empty container, causing her to cry. The female subject and her father fled the theater.
 
The victim was taken to a doctor for evaluation after she complained of head pain. The victim suffered a contusion.
 
An investigation was conducted and led to the arrests of Keri Karman, 25, and Charles Karman, 61, both of the same residence. Both defendants are being charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child. They were issued Appearance Tickets.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
