Queens, NY - March 4th, 2014 - Beginning this weekend and continuing over five more weekends in March and April, westbound train service at Queens Village and Hollis on the Hempstead Branch will be replaced by bus service as the Long Island Rail Road performs track and bridge maintenance in the area. The work is scheduled for the following weekends: March 8-9, March 15-16, March 22-23, March 29-30, April 12-13 and April 26-27.

Throughout the project, buses will replace westbound trains at Queens Village and Hollis from late Friday night until early Monday morning, with full train service restored before the start of Monday’s AM rush.

Westbound from Queens Village and Hollis
Customers beginning their westbound train trip at Queens Village or Hollis will instead board buses leaving up to 14 minutes later than regular train departure times and travel directly to Jamaica where trains will take them to points west. Customers should allow up to 22 minutes of additional travel time.

Westbound to Queens Village and Hollis
Hempstead Branch customers traveling west to Queens Village or Hollis will disembark at Bellerose and board a bus for direct service to either Queens Village or Hollis. These customers should allow for up to 20 minutes of additional travel time.

Eastbound
Trains will continue to operate eastbound during the construction period, but customers should expect delays of up four to six minutes as train speeds are adjusted through the work zone to ensure the safety of employees and the riding public.
