Cops: South Carolina Man Mailed Fake Bombs to Plainview Woman He Met Via The Internet
Plainview, NY - March 2, 2018 - Special Investigations Squad detectives report the arrest of a South Carolina man for incidents that occurred in November of 2017.
According to detectives, James Dickerson, 22, North Charleston, S.C., on three separate occasions between November 17th and November 20th, 2017, had false bombs containing ammonium nitrate, a radioactive uranium ore sample and a pressure cooker containing thumbtacks delivered to, at the time, a 19 year old female from Plainview whom he had contact with, via the internet, over a period of time.
An investigation by the Nassau County Police Department Special Investigation Squad, along with the New York City Police Department, FBI-Joint Terrorism Task Force, New York State Police and the North Charleston Police Department, led to the identification and apprehension of the defendant who was extradited to Nassau County from Charleston County, South Carolina.
Dickerson is charged with three (3) counts of Placing a False Bomb or Hazardous Substance 2nd Degree and Harassment 1st Degree. He will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 3/2/2018.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
