Officials: Three Queens Teens Charged with Assault, Robbery of New Hyde Park Man

New Hyde Park, NY - March 1, 2018 - Third Squad detectives report the arrest of three individuals for an incident that occurred on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 2:55 am in New Hyde Park.
 
According to detectives, a 23 year old male victim, while in the parking lot of 7 Eleven, 1599 Hillside Avenue, flagged down a nearby 3rd Precinct patrol officer and advised the officer that he was just robbed by three individuals, one of whom struck him with a pair of crutches and took his wallet. The officer was advised that the three then drove away in a white Porsche.
 
A notification was broadcast with a description of the car as well as the individuals involved and a short time later they were located, apprehended and placed under arrest without incident.
 
Alston Tamura, 17, Queens, Edward Diee, 19, Queens and Daniel Eduardo Franco Rivera, 24, of Oakland Gardens, Queens were charged as follows:
 
  • Defendant Tamura: Robbery 1st Degree and Robbery 2nd Degree.
  • Defendant Diee: Robbery 1st Degree, two (2) counts of Robbery 2nd Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon 4th Degree.
  • Defendant Rivera Franco: Robbery 2nd Degree.
All defendants were arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 2/28/2018.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
