Port Jefferson has been the object of art for the last few months as artists have been commissioned to produce public works all around the village.

 

Over the summer, the Port Jefferson Business Improvement District (BID) and the Greater Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce hired Long Island muralist Linda Alfin for a project in the village.

 

According to a story on GreaterPortJefferson.com, artist Kara Hoblin suggested osprey wings for the piece, instead of the typical angel wings seen in these types of murals that entice people to pose for pics and then post them on social media, especially popular on Instagram.

Hoblin, an artist who works in a variety of mediums, was recognized last Spring for her chalk drawings that celebrated front line workers during the pandemic.
