UPDATE: Westhampton Beach Plane Crash with Three On Board

Westhampton Beach, NY - February 27, 2017 - On Sunday, February 26, 2017, at approximately 11:43 am, the New York State Police working in conjunction with the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single engine plane crash at Gabreski Airport, Westhampton Beach, NY. The aircraft was occupied by three people, a flight instructor, a pilot and a rear seat passenger, crashed in a wooded area of the airport.

The pilot, identified as the owner of the aircraft, Richard B. Rosenthal, age 61, of Huntington Station, NY, was rescued from the wreckage and airlifted to the State University Medical Center at Stony Brook. The flight instructor, who was killed, has been identified as Arieh Narkunski, age 64, of Brooklyn, NY. The passenger, also killed, has been identified as Robert A. Wilkie, age 65, of Hempstead, NY.

The investigation is continuing with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigating the crash. All further inquiries can be directed to the NTSB.
