Young Long Islander Donates Birthday Presents to Animal Shelter

Written by Lon Cohen  |  03. March 2020

A little girl from Bellport did what most other youngsters would never do. She selflessly went without birthday presents on her 10th birthday and asked people who were invited to her party to make a donation to the Brookhaven Town Animal Shelter instead. Isabelle Grucci-Peterson of Bellport was able to donate $800 to the shelter to help with their mission.

“I know that Isabelle’s family is very proud of her and we are thankful that she chose to make a donation to our animal shelter,” said Brookhaven Supervisor Ed Romaine.

“Because of her generosity, our adoptable pets will have a better time in the shelter until they find their forever home.”

Visit the Brookhaven Animal Shelter and Adoption Center located at 300 Horseblock Road in Brookhaven to meet their adoptable dogs and cats. Open Monday through Friday from 9:30am to 4pm, Saturday from 10am. to 4pm. and Sunday from 11am to 4pm For more information, call 631-451-6950 or visit the animal shelter website.
