Officials: Lawrence Man Arrested for Impersonating Nassau Cop, Attempting to Extort Money from Victim
Inwood, NY - February 27, 2018 - The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of a Lawrence man for Burglary that occurred at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2018 in Inwood.
According to Detectives, Robert White, 48, of Lawrence, forced his way into the victim’s second floor bedroom apartment claiming to be a Nassau County Police Officer. The defendant stated he was there to collect rent money and threatened to arrest the victim, 21, if he did not pay him. The victim handed White an undisclosed amount of US currency.
Fourth Precinct officers were able to locate the defendant and place him under arrest without further incident. White is charged with Burglary 2nd Degree, 2 counts of Grand Larceny 4th Degree and Criminal Impersonation 1st Degree. He will be arraigned on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at First District Court, Hempstead.
