Arrest Made for Man Found Shot at the Freeport Fire Department

Freeport, NY - February 24, 2017 - The First Squad reports the arrest of a Freeport man for Attempted Murder that occurred on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 5:01 am in Freeport.

According to detectives, Freeport Officers received a call for a male shot at the Freeport Fire Department, 16 Broadway.  Upon arrival officers found a 42 year old male shot several times. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.  An investigation revealed that the victim was shot on Washburn Avenue and had drove himself to the above location and called police.

On Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 6:42 pm Antonio Smith, 43, of Freeport was placed under arrest for the above crime.  Defendant Smith is being charged with 1 count of Murder 2nd degree (Attempt), 1 count of Assault 1st degree.  He was arraigned on Friday, February 24, 2017 at First District Court, Hempstead.
