Central Islip Man Arrested for Numerous Commercial Burglaries

Central Islip, NY - February 24, 2014 - Suffolk County Police on Saturday arrested a man who was responsible for numerous commercial burglaries that occurred over a period of time.
 
Fourth Squad detectives conducted an investigation into a string of commercial burglaries in which an individual broke into various commercial buildings at industrial parks in Bohemia, Islandia, Ronkonkoma and Hauppauge and stole various electronics and computer equipment.
 
Through a coordinated effort led by the Fourth Squad, Luis Arroyo, 38, was arrested for a burglary that occurred on Saturday, February 22 at 3001 Express Drive North, Islandia. Arroyo was apprehended for the burglary at Motor Parkway and Hawthorne Avenue in Central Islip after he attempted to flee from officers in a stolen vehicle.
 
Further investigation by the Fourth and Fifth Squads led to Arroyo being charged with nine counts of Burglary 3rd Degree, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle First Degree, Grand Larceny 3rd Degree, Grand Larceny 4th Degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, Petit Larceny and Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree.
 
Detectives are continuing to investigate whether there is a connection to other reported burglaries.
 
Arroyo, of 44 East Halley Lane, Central Islip, will be held at the Fourth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on February 24.
