Moriches, NY - February 23, 2017 - Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a Mastic Beach man in Moriches early this morning.

Daniel Krehl was driving a 2005 Saturn Vue eastbound on Montauk Highway near Fanning Landing Road when his vehicle struck the rear of a tractor trailer, which was parked with flashers on, at 2:37 a.m.

Krehl, 31, of Mastic Beach, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The Saturn was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
