Valley Stream, NY - February 23rd, 2016 - Homicide Squad detectives report the details of a fatal vehicular auto accident involving a pedestrian that occurred on Monday, February 22, 2016 at 12:03 pm in Valley Stream.

According to detectives, while attempting to cross Merrick Road from the south side to the north side at Green Street, the 61 year old male victim from Bellerose was struck by an eastbound 2002 Audi Allroad that was operated by a 75 year old male.

As a result of the collision, the 61 year old pedestrian suffered multiple trauma injuries, was transported to an area hospital and was later pronounced deceased by a staff physician.

A safety check on the driver’s vehicle was performed at the scene and released back to the uninjured owner.

The name of the pedestrian is being withheld at this time and the investigation into this non-criminal accident is ongoing.
