Mangano: Registration For Nassau's Summer Recreation Program Is Now Open

Nassau County, NY - February 22nd, 2016 - Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano today announced that registration for Nassau County’s successful Summer Recreation Program for 2016 is now open. The 2016 Summer Recreation Program will run from June 27th – August 4th.

Nassau County’s Summer Recreation Program, operates in four County Parks: Cantiague Park in Hicksville; Eisenhower Park in East Meadow; Nickerson Beach Park in Lido Beach; and Wantagh Park in Wantagh. The program is for children ages 5 to 12, separated in the following categories: early childhood (5-6); juniors (7-8); intermediate (9-10); and seniors (11-12). Parents can choose between two sessions for their children: either 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Fees for the program range from $700 for one child for the 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. session to $900 for the 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. session, with discounts available for both sessions for additional children from the same family.

The registration deadline is May 27, 2016. There is a registration fee of $25 for returning campers (from 2015) who register by March 18, 2016, and a registration fee of $50 for new campers (regardless of registration date) and returning campers who apply after March 18, 2016. Registration fees are not refundable. If all final payments are not received by May 27, 2016, your spot in the program may be lost and the registration fee will not be refunded.

In addition to 45 minutes of open swim time at Cantiague, Nickerson, and Wantagh Park and 45 minutes at the Spray Water Park in Eisenhower Park, other activities include: arts and crafts, board and recreational games, Quick Start Tennis, 1st Tee Golf, and sports such as baseball, basketball, flag football, golf, Kan Jam, soccer, tennis, volleyball, and wiffle ball.
