Holbrook, NY - February 23rd, 2016 - Suffolk County Police Identity Theft Section detectives arrested a Coram man yesterday for ordering $256,546.00 in goods from suppliers and then refusing to pay for the merchandise once it was received.

Anthony Dimase, owner of Everything Goes Discount Variety Store, located at 5801 Sunrise Highway, Holbrook, received a shipment of children’s sandals valued at $14,100.00 from a Los Angeles distributor with the understanding that he would pay for the merchandise in January 2016. Dimase later refused to make any payments.

Dimase then accepted a shipment of $89,625.00 worth of a product called “Plumbers Hero” from the same distributor on January 22 after the distributor told him to refuse the delivery. Again, Dimase refused to make any payments for the merchandise or return it to the supplier.

During an investigation by Suffolk County Police Identity Theft Section Detectives, a distributor in Suffolk County came forward and reported that they shipped $152,820 in toys to Dimase in December of 2015 and never received payment for the goods.

Dimase, 55, of Shady Lane, Coram, was arrested and charged with two counts of Grand Larceny 2nd Degree. He is being held at the Sixth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip.

This investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone else who may have been a victim of this crime to call the Identity Theft Section at 631-852-6269.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
