Hauppauge, NY – February 23rd, 2013 – The Long Island Pet Expo returns for it’s 4^th year at Suffolk Community College, and is celebrating with many new features added to the annual pet expo.  A new night has been added this year, kicking off the weekend event on Friday, March 1^st, 2013 with ‘Family Night’ where kids 12 and under are admitted free of charge! From 4pm to 9pm the expo will be open featuring all the activities such as:all new classic K9 dog show; dog agility demos; Frisbee dogs; trick dog show; dancing dog show; parade of breeds; rainforest reptile shows featuring a rare albino alligator; petting zoo and much more!

This is the first time the expo has offered this Family Night and Dennis & Karen Garetano of the Long Island Pet Expo, the show organizers said, “We are thankful to Suffolk Community College for letting us expand our ever popular show an additional evening so we can offer this great family night where kids 12 and under can come free of charge.  This will be a great savings for families that want to attend and get the full experience of the weekend show on Friday evening.”

The Pet Expo is expected to bring over 10,000 of people throughout the weekend and features pet vendors offering many pet items and supplies for sale, lots of fun, unique and educational entertainment programs, and many pet professionals from right here on Long Island and from around the country.  The Long Island Pet Expo Features all of our favorite pets under one roof!

Also new this year, animal rescue groups that are official non-for-profit organizations can have a free space at the event offering the public information, education on responsible pet ownership and even have adoptable pets on site.  Potential pet owners or those looking to add another pet to their family are encouraged to visit the Adoption Area at the expo as many homeless pets will be available for adoption.

Thought agility was just for dogs? Another new entertainment addition to the pet expo this year will be the cat agility demos done by CFA Agility Coordinator Jill Archibald.  Cats who are trained in agility will be showing off their skills and maybe making Fido jealous.  In an enclosed area, you know so the cats don’t get lost in the crowd, spectators can watch as kitty flies over the jumps, go through the tunnel and weave poles just like their canine counterparts – on a kitty sized course, of course!  Feline Agility competitions are rapidly growing in popularity, and Jill Archibald will even be able to do walk through in the course with kids and adults that are interested in learning more about it.

The Pet Expo is for human attendees only, the public is asked not to bring their own pets.
