Cops: Levittown Man Busted for Allegedly Driving Drunk with Loaded Handgun in Vehicle

Massapequa Park, NY - February 21, 2019 - The Nassau County Police Department reports the arrest of a Levittown man for Driving While Intoxicated that occurred on Wednesday, February 20th, 2019 at 02:45 AM in Massapequa Park.
 
According to police, a 7th Precinct Officer while on routine patrol did observe a 2002 Ford Explorer failing to maintain its lane of traffic heading eastbound on Sunrise Highway and Park Boulevard.  
 
The vehicle was subsequently stopped and an investigation was conducted by the officer. The operator of the vehicle, William Curtin, 30, of Levittown was observed to be unsteady on his feet; a Standardized Field Sobriety Test was performed with positive signs of impairment. 
 
William Curtin was placed under arrest without incident and an impound inventory search of his vehicle was conducted, resulting in the recovery of a loaded 9mm Glock pistol.
 
Defendant William Curtin is charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Loaded Firearm 2nd Degree, two counts of Driving While Intoxicated and VTL Failure to Maintain Lane. Defendant William Curtin will be arraigned on February 20, 2019 in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
