26 Year-Old Man Killed in Shirley Motor Vehicle Crash, According to Officials

Shirley, NY - February 21, 2019 - Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a man in Shirley on Wednesday, February 20.
 
Angel Espiet was driving a 1992 Mazda westbound on Montauk Highway, near Smith Road, when his vehicle veered into oncoming traffic and struck a 2017 Subaru traveling eastbound at approximately 7:10 p.m.
 
Espiet, 26, of Bellport, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. The driver of the Subaru, Dylan O’Brien, 24, and O’Brien’s passenger, Marissa Joynt, 23, of Shirley, were transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
The vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call Seventh Squad detectives at 631-852-8752
