Two Drug Dealers Nabbed After NCPD Undercover Sting Operation

Arsen Cankul is charged with multiple counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance after selling heroin to an undercover cop. At the time of his arrest, Cankul had 1,393 glassine envelopes containing heroin on his person.

Massapequa, NY - February 19th, 2016 - Major Case Bureau detectives from the Narcotics Vice Bureau report the arrests of two men on Thursday, February 18, 2016.

According to detectives, an undercover operation involving the Nassau County Narcotics Vice Bureau, DEA Group D-14 and the Suffolk County Police Department initiated in Massapequa.

In September 2015, Arsen Cankul, 36, of Carmen View Drive, Shirley, along with his co-defendant, Edward Stanchio, 47, of Garity Place, Farmingdale, did possess and sell a quantity of heroin to undercover detectives during a narcotics transaction. During that sale, Arsen Cankul had his four year old child with him while the sale was conducted.


Edward Stanchio is charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance after selling heroin to an undercover NCPD officer.

Continuing September 2015 through February 2016, Cankul continued to sell heroin to undercover detectives that amounted to 987 glassine envelopes.

On February 18, 2016, Cankul again sold a large quantity of heroin to undercover detectives. He was then placed under arrest without further incident.

During the ongoing operation, Cankul sold and was found to have in his possession a total of 1,393 glassine envelopes containing heroin.

Cankul is charged with two (2) counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, two (2) counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree (Warrant) and Unlawfully Dealing With a Child.

Stanchio is charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree.

Both defendants will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 02/19/2016.
