NY State Police Investigating Four-Car Crash on Southern State Parkway

The NYS Police report a four-car crash on the Southern State Parkway on Sunday, February 17th.

Hempstead, NY - February 18, 2019 - On Sunday morning of February 17th, 2019 at approximately 2:12 AM there was a four-car crash on the Southern State Parkway westbound at exit 18, in the Town of Hempstead.  
 
A Ford Econoline was stopped in the right lane disabled with a Nissan Pathfinder behind it. A Honda Accord was traveling in the right lane and struck the Nissan from behind which then struck the Ford. The Honda then lost control and hit a fourth car, a Toyota Sienna.  Two people were injured in the Ford, eight people were injured in the Nissan, the driver was injured in the Honda and neither of the two occupants of the Toyota were injured. Everyone who was injured were taken to local hospitals.  
 
The most serious injured was the driver of the Honda, with a facial trauma and a pelvic injury. The driver of the Honda, Tyler Jackson, 31 of Rosedale, has been charged with Driving While Intoxicated. The roadway was shut down for several hours and has been re-opened.
