Elmont Man Caught in the Act During Home Burglary, Arrested

Elmont, NY - February 15, 2017 - The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of Elmont man for Burglary that occurred in Elmont on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 8:39 am.

According to detectives, a 40 year old female returned to her Morgan Avenue residence at which time she noticed in her first floor bedroom that a locked box containing assorted jewelry and collectible coins strewn strewn about the room. The victim then noticed an unknown male subject in her home without permission to be there. After questioning him as to why he was in her home she left quickly with her dog to a neighbor’s home and dialed 911 for police. Responding Fifth Precinct Police officers, after hearing a radio broadcast were able to locate the subject walking in the vicinity of Custer Street and Caroline Avenue and placed the defendant Devon J. Pruden, 22, of Elmont into police custody without incident. Proceeds were recovered along with a large knife. There were no injuries reported.

Devon J. Pruden is charged with Burglary 2 nd Degree, and Possession of Burglar’s Tools. He will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday, February 16, 2017.
