Written by Long Island News & PR  |  15. February 2019

Nassau County, NY - February 15, 2019 - Members of the Adelphi team of the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program are out walking every weekend, training for the annual LI2Day Walk. The team goes to local parks such as Eisenhower Park and malls to get in shape for the fundraising walk that will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2019.

This is the 15th year of the event and Adelphi has been a participant and beneficiary every year, to date having received a total of $439,950 in grant funds. The monies are used to support the numerous free services that the Adelphi program offers such as the hotline, support groups, informational seminars and community education.

The Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program recently received a grant for $24,200 from LI2Day, a Long Island based organization that fund raises for local breast cancer organizations through walks and other events.

Team members pay a registration fee of $75 and solicit sponsorships. There is no fee for Virtual Walkers who wish to raise money but do not participate in the actual walk. To support the walk, register at https://www.li2daywalk.org/2019-13-1-mile-walk and join the Adelphi team on the drop down menu.

“We love doing this every year,” says Adelphi team captain Susan Shulman of Westbury. “We all share a common goal to raise money to help our fellow Long Islanders as they struggle with cancer. We’re always eager to welcome new people into our group.”

LI2DAY was organized in 2004 to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer and other cancer research, to benefit cancer sufferers, survivors, and their families, and to support organizations that are participating in such efforts.

The Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program provides information and emotional support to New Yorks coping with breast cancer. The hotline number is 800-877-8077. You are not alone.
