Arrest Made in Connection with Wantagh Bank Robbery, Authorities Say

Wantagh, NY - February 14, 2019 - The Major Case Bureau announced that Nicholas Sarnelli, 30, of Wantagh, was arrested in connection with a Robbery that occurred on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 12:50 p.m. in Wantagh.
 
According to Robbery Squad Detectives, Sarnelli entered the TD Bank located at 1200 Wantagh Avenue, approached the teller, and passed a note demanding money. The teller passed an undetermined amount of US currency to Sarnelli, who then fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction, officials say.
 
There were 3 employees inside the bank at the time of the robbery. There were no injuries reported.
 
Defendant Sarnelli is charged with Robbery 3rd Degree. He will be arraigned on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at First District Court, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
